H.B. 152 overwhelmingly passed the House last week. There is also an identical bill - S.B. 287 introduced by Sen. Hartsell. Both bills are now being considered in the Senate, so there are two opportunities to pass historic tax credit legislation.

Dear Historic Tax Credit Supporter,

As you know, H.B. 152 overwhelmingly passed the House last week. Thank you for all or your hard work and support in contacting House members and asking for their support.

There is also an identical bill - S.B. 287 introduced by Sen. Hartsell. Both bills are now being considered in the Senate, so there are two opportunities to pass historic tax credit legislation.

I need your action today.

Please contact as many Senators as you can to ask them to support H.B. 152 and S.B. 287. Contact information can be found at www.ncleg.net.

The Legislature is on break next week so this is a wonderful opportunity to contact them in their home offices. Please ask your co-workers, friends and neighbors to join you in this effort.

This compromise bill puts caps on projects, lowers percentages and supports less developed areas while at the same time encourages economic development, job creation and private investment into N.C. Since 1998, over 2,400 historic tax credit projects have been completed statewide bringing over $ 1.6 billion of private investment into 90 of 100 North Carolina counties.

Thank you for all of your hard work to get us to this point, but now your efforts are even more critical.

Please contact Senate members TODAY to ask for support of H.B. 152 and S.B. 287 'New Historic Preservation Tax Credit'.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Many thanks,
Susan Kluttz

Secretary, N.C. Department of Cultural Resources
