House Bill 152 - historic preservation

Historic Preservation

From the desk of Representative Pricey Harrison
House District 57.

Yesterday, the  House  gave final approval of  the creation of a new, scaled-back historic preservation tax credit program that proponents say would help revitalize historic structures in small towns and large cities across the state. House Bill 152*, proposed credits of 15 percent for expenditures up to $10 million. The program will sunset on January 1, 2021, and is a scaled-back version of the credit that was allowed to expire last year.

There is substantial support for the legislation throughout the state, including the League of Municipalities, Association of County Commissioners, American Institute of Architects, and the NC Association of Realtors. I have been a strong supporter of this program.
