on this Presidents Day, we celebrate Girl Power - craft"man"ship should really be crafts-"wo"-man ship ... the Atelier principal at work.

On this cold day in February, our banks and our schools are closed to celebrate the Presidency of the United States (or in Greensboro's case, because of snow) and it gives us pause to consider how great America is.  But America was not built ONLY on the backs of men with a vision and powerful political connections... but on the shoulders of hard working Americans who GAVE that power to their government and built this country, one brick at a time.

We don't have to tell you that those shoulders were not all men - and in many cases, the men were the minority.  Presidents day should do more than honor the past living/dead men that held the office we gave them, it should honor the men and WOMEN who carried this great country on their shoulders... or knees, who sacrificed when the Government called, and still today, are a key backbone of the American economy.

A408Studio is a repertory of professional Architects, Interior Designers, Crafts-man, and builders into ONE firm.  This philosophy is called "Atelier" (ate·lier noun \ˌa-təl-ˈyā\,) the French word for "workshop" - and the reason behind the "A" and "Studio" in our name - A408Studio.  In Europe in the Middle Ages, Atelier represented a workshop of designers and trades people - the real "crafts-man" that built the cities and towns.

The Atelier philosophy is about inclusion. Just like the history of America, this inclusive Atelier philosophy includes WOMEN, and a lot of them. We are so proud of our team, we are proud of the work ethic, quality, pride, and determination that WOMEN exhibit on our job sites every day.  From foundations to floors, from design to execution - the WOMEN that power this American economy deserve a big thank you.

Thank you.
