Sad day for a community elder ... a great tree lost to the generations.

Erich Thompson describes the willow oak at Blandwood Mansion as a community elder.
“In its adult life, it has watched the entire 20th century,” Thompson said.
Elder trees are like elephants, he said.
“They watch from a distance, from a higher perspective. They are quiet, but they take it all in. And when you stand in their presence, you feel what has been.”
